Patrick Galvin (1927-2011) was most famous as a poet but was also an acclaimed playwright, satirist, memoirist, and member of Aosdána. In his early career, Galvin was a well-known folk singer, songwriter, and song collector and traveled as a ballad singer throughout Europe. He recorded seven volumes of Irish folk songs in the UK and USA.
