Sleeve Notes

The BARDS, namely Ann, Diarmuid and Christy, are among the top folk groups in Ireland today. Ann Keaveney is their attractive female singer and she also plays keyboards and bodhrán . Diarmuid O'Leary is singer/guitarist and Christy Sheridan takes care of the instrumental side, playing mandolin, banjo and bouzouki.

The Group's special blend of traditional and contemporary folk music includes a wide-ranging repertoire, from Irish folk music and ballads to international modern folk material.

This album consists mainly of material from their live performances in response to requests from their audiences together with some new numbers. Featured on the LP, of course, is their full-length version of their hit single "Lanigan's Ball" which brought them to the number one position in the best selling record charts in Ireland.

The Bards, were one of the few Irish Acts selected to perform in Britain on I.T.V.'s Top Talent Series-"New Faces". The group made two appearances on the programme, the second one a "Winners Show". The two songs which they performed on "New Faces"! have a Dream" and "He's Gone Away"- were highly acclaimed by the panel and both songs are included in this album.

Ann's sister, Rena, who is an established songwriter has written a lot of material for the group. Two of her songs "Forever and a Day" and "Farewell my Love" are included in this album, and the group intends recording more of her songs in the near future.
