Production Notes

The recordings for this album were made on digital equipment by NOS radio in Holland for the AVRÒ radio programme 'Folk live' at the Carré Theatre in Amsterdam on October 6, 1983.

As founder member Luke Kelly tragically died only a few months after this concert those recordings are the very last Dubliners recordings with Luke.

This album is as much a historical event as it is a musical highlight in the respectable career of one of Europe's finest musical groups: The Dubliners.

Sleeve Notes

The Dubliners have been the personification of Irish folk music for more than 20 years. On many stages all over the world they bring their compelling ballads, their exuberant folk songs and their uplifting jigs and reels.

In one of their most extensive formations they stood on the stage of Theater Carré in Amsterdam during, as it turned out, one of the last concerts with Luke Kelly, who died in 1984.

During this memorable concert, which was one musical highlight, newcomer Seán Cannon was introduced who, with his clear voice and his contribution to the repertoire, gave the group an important new impulse.

The unique recordings on this record were made for the AVRÒ radio program 'Folk live'. This happened with the latest, crystal clear, digital recording techniques. A great atmospheric whole, with well-known successes such as 'Whiskey in the Jar',

'The Wild Rover' and 'Seven Drunken Nights', but also recent repertoire such as 'Song for Ireland' and 'Waterford Boys'.

An LP with over 50 minutes The Dubliners live in concert for an enthusiastic Dutch audience.

A unique event and at the same time a historical document.
