Sleeve Notes

Tommy Makem and the Clancy Brothers popularized the traditional and contemporary folk songs of the British Isles. They turned the world on to the poetry, the emotion, the magic and the life in these songs with their hearty, engaging and often intimate performances in concert and on record.

Working out of Greenwich Village, Liam spent much of his time sharing his music with many of the contemporary folksingers and songwriters. He taught Bob Dylan many Irish songs which Dylan adapted; one of them — "FAREWELL" — is on this album.

Tommy Makem, Liam Clancy and his brothers have each pursued careers in music and theatre. Because of their individual success, they now play together only occasionally — usually on world wide tours.

Liam constantly traveled between a stone cottage and his family in Ireland, and a demanding audience in North America. He made over eighty transatlantic crossings in one year alone. In January of 1975, Liam moved to Calgary, Alberta and is now the host of a successful television series. He continues to be the master of many a concert evening. Liam Clancy has now been featured on over forty albums; this is one of the few that he has recorded on his own.

"I'll write you of the laughter and sorrows be they someone elses or my own." — traditional
