I'm sure you can imagine some of the questions in my mind as I approached 1991, my first year as a solo performer having previously spent all of my professional life on stage in 'company'.
"Can I arrange enough new material?"
"Will they accept the standards with only one voice?"
"Will they still put their bums in the seats?"
"Can I last two hours up there on my own?"
"Can I provide variety?"
"Can I still enjoy the performance?"
"Will they still enjoy the performance?"
All these questions, and more. Well, the only way to find out was to try it out.
That I have done, and this album has been produced as some kind of tangible answer to the questions.
The short spring tour of 1991 was designed to get me back hp on the metaphorical horse. Its success encouraged me to go out again quickly in the autumn of 1991 to consolidate, and the last concert of that tour was on January 25th, 1992, In His Majesty's Theatre, Aberdeen. Part of the 'Press & Journal' crit of that show read;
"...Far from being a pathetic figure limping along without his partner, Ronnie Browne has simply entered a new phase in his career…"
Enough said ? Ill be seeing you.
